History: Nathaniel “Nate” William de Lynton was born on May 6th , 1484 to a prestigious and very much respected family of nobles in Europe. He was the middle and secondborn child in their family, he had a twin sister named Natalia, and a younger brother named Joshua. Nate and his family retained their status in europe while he was growing up.
Nate's family were acquaintances of another wealthy family in Europe, the Abbotts. The Abbotts had one daughter, named Lynnetta. Lynnetta and Nate were the best of friends growing up. As they grew however, that friendship developed into more. When they were about 18 years old Lynnetta and Nate slept together a few times, but eventually Nate would find out that while their fathers were good friends, Lynnetta's father did not like the idea of Nate and his daughter being together. Lynetta's father had plans for her to marry another wealthy nobleman, Johnathan Dunfield. Because of how close the Abbotts and de Lyntons were, Lynnetta and Nate decided to keep their love for eachother a secret. After they stopped seeing eachother Lynnetta became pregnant. As far as everyone else and Nate knew, the child was of the Dunfield bloodline.
Johnathan knew that the child wasn't his, and he knew that Lynnetta was unfaithful before they were married but he decided to play along with Lynetta's lie. Despite his willingness never to let anyone know that he knew the truth, Johnathan planned never to treat the child as if it were his own. He became abusive towards Nate's son and treated him the exact opposite of his own blood, something that would later prove fatal for Johnathan Dunfield and his immediate family.
About 7 years later when Nate was 25, the plague had hit his part of Europe. By that time he'd married and had a wife and young daughter, both of who were lost to the plague. It was at this time that a female vampire named Cecilia came across Nate and turned him. She'd actually taken interest in him for a while, but for some reason decided to wait until the plague did it's job as far as his family was concerned before turning him.
It is unknown how Nate found out, but soon after his transition into a vampire he discovered that he not only had a son, but that Johnathan Dunfield and his family treated his 7 year old son, William (she claimed to name him after John's father but she really chose the name because it was Nate's middle name) like dirt compared to the rest of his family. He also found out that Johnathan was responsible for Lynetta's death and that Johnathan himself covered it up with help from a few other parties.
With Cecilia's help, Nate set up a revenge plan. He ultimately murdered everyone involved in what happened with Lynnetta and the treatment of his son. Slowly and Painfully. They didn't have to ask one of Johnathan's maids to take William away, she agreed to help them because she felt sorry for William and got tired of standing by. The plan was once they'd finished their business they'd leave his son with a better family. What they didn't expect however was that young William would return to the house and witness the vengeful vampire's final kill. Seeing the young boy in terror made Nate realize just what he'd done as he looked around. Everyone in the family was dead, including the butlers, William's brothers and sisters, and even the help that looked the other way and did nothing.
Nate's last act of humanity before shutting it off was giving his son a worthy family, a couple that he knew before he died as well as . They couldn't have kids. Nate couldn't handle all of the emotions, the anger he felt over what happened, the guilt that he felt killing the others that he realized didn't deserve it as much. How he managed to stay stable long enough to give his son to a worthy family is a mystery. He compelled all three of them. The parents to think that William was their miracle son, and William to forget the abuse that he'd went through since his mother died, and to forget about his true mother. His son would have no memory of that horrific death scene.
The details of how Nathaniel regained his humanity and whatever happened to Cecilia in the last 490 odd years are unknown but currently, Nate has arrived in Mystic Falls to live with a friend (one of Jei's neighbors) and is taking a position as a Mechanic. Unknown to Jei and his family however, Nathaniel and his family share some ties. Ties that involve events in the last 490 years as well as the recent decade.
Additional Notes
Nate unlike most vampires likes witches and is hateful of any vampire that forcibly uses one for his own personal gain, even going so far as to protect them if needed. It is rumored that an event in his past is more than likely the reason for this. Nate doesn't have a problem with and is even friends with some hybrids, but because of how elitist some werewolves are about their species he naturally doesn't care for most of them.
