History:

 Areya was born on  December 14th, 1994, almost two years after her brother Jei in Grove Hill, Virginia. She was 5 years old when the incident at her brother's summer camp happened which resulted in the death of their parents. That night her parents decided to leave her with a family friend, which more than likely saved her life. Areya and Jei ended up moving to Michigan with their paternal grandparents after their parent's memorial.

Since Areya was 5 years old at the time, she has fewer memories of her parents than Jei does, but both families made sure that Areya and Jei knew who their parents were and that they were loved. Areya loves it when her grandparents and family from Bangkok come to visit.

Areya ultimately grew up to be one of the popular girls in her jr. high school and Freshman year of high school. She enjoys school and cheerleading but like most teenage girls, she loves boys. If it's a choice between doing her homework and going out to party with friends/boys, she will find a way to do both. It was in her first year of high school in Michigan that Areya discovered something about herself.

Areya was part of a clique of girls. They were the usual girls in high school that were popular. The boys wanted to date them and the other girls wanted to be them. There was one girl in particular that really wanted to be one of them named Elizabeth Templeton. Elizabeth was the nerdy girl, the one in school that people either ignored or bullied. Areya's former friend and head of her clique, a girl named Amber Wilson usually spearheaded the bullying. Areya after time started to think that Amber and the others were being too hard on Elizabeth.

One day after cheerleading practice Areya found Amber messing around with Elizabeth in the locker room. Apparently, Elizabeth just got tired of Amber messing with her and decided to pop Amber clean on her face. When Areya got there, Elizabeth had already been beaten pretty bad. Areya told Amber to stop but she wouldn't. Right as she was about to punch Elizabeth in her face again Amber felt a sharp pain in her head. Elizabeth looked at Areya and saw that she was in a trance, staring at Amber. A few seconds later Areya snapped out of her trance and Amber just ran off. 

Areya didn't know it at the time, but her powers as a witch had just manifested. To this day she still doesn't know that she is technically a witch, just that she has some powers. Elizabeth and Areya became good friends after this. Areya helped to make Elizabeth more popular and gave her some confidence before she had to move away. Amber pretty much became a nobody after the incident. It's unclear whether or not it was the result of Areya's spell or out of Amber's fear of Areya herself. Elizabeth or Lizzie as she came to be known as is the only other person that currently knows that Areya has powers. Areya hasn't even told her family about the incident or about her powers.

Recently, Areya and Jei's grandmother Terese died due to complications resulting from cancer but she left in her will a very nice three story house to her remaining family members including Areya. It was at this time that Naomi became both Jei and Areya's legal guardian. Because of how social her life was in Michigan and her friendships (with Lizzie especially), she is bummed about the move to Mystic Falls with her remaining family but realizes that it's necessary. She made a promise to keep in touch with her friends (Lizzie especially) after the move to hear about what's going on. Their new house would have plenty of room for all of them, and that would mean even more privacy for her. 

Also, since Grove Hill, her birthtown and home for 5 years is not too far away,  Areya (as well as her brother Jei) will be able to more regularly visit the cemetery where their parents memorial is located. Areya also somehow just feels that it's right for her to be moving, but she is unaware of all of the other supernatural creatures that exist in and around the town of Mystic Falls, Virginia.

Areya has no idea what she is, but although her mother was a witch and her grandmother Wandee is a witch, for some reason Wandee chose not to inform or encourage witchcraft in either Jei or Areya.

Experience: On and off for about 6 years. Started off as mostly a sci-fi horror (specifically Silent Hill & Resident Evil)  video game rper. I've done some other work (involving Stargate SG-1) recently but this along with ties is my first of TVD.
